Description

Nalgene™ Economy narrow-mouth bottles in HDPE are lightweight, break-resistant containers for light, general laboratory applications. Each bottle provides a nominal capacity of 1000 ml (32 oz.) with a narrow neck of 27 mm inner diameter, a round body of 92 mm diameter and a height of 216 mm. Natural translucent bottles are supplied fully assembled with matching natural translucent polypropylene screw closures (38 mm, without liner), so units are ready for everyday sample handling and storage. Produced to ISO 13485:2016 quality requirements from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, the bottles and closures meet US 21CFR177.1520 requirements for food and beverage contact use and USP Class VI. They are not autoclavable and are not intended for dispensing through the closure. This bulk format is packed as a case of 50 assembled bottles and carries an ACT Label, offering an economical HDPE option for high-throughput labs that need reliable short-term packaging without unnecessary complexity.

A plastic bottle is polyethylene, polypropylene or a fluoropolymer, narrow-mouth for pouring or wide-mouth for powders. It is the choice when the bottle must not shatter, and it is the wrong choice for solvents that swell the plastic.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
