Description

Nalgene™ Oak Ridge centrifuge tubes for high-speed applications are round FEP tubes designed for centrifuging aggressive chemicals, including chloroform and phenol extractions in refrigerated centrifuges at forces up to 50.000 × g. The polyfluoroethylenepropylene (FEP) tube body is paired with an ETFE screw closure to support chemical resistance during demanding sample work. Nominal volume is 30 ml (0,03 l). Tubes are supplied unsterile, are autoclavable, have no graduations and no writing area, and feature a round bottom with screw-cap closure. These laboratory plastics from manufacturer Thermo Scientific are intended for repeated high-speed use where chemical compatibility and mechanical performance matter. Packaging is organised as 2 pieces per pack and 10 pieces per carton (case of 10), suiting routine preparation of extraction and high-g protocols in research and analytical laboratories.

This article is part of Centrifuge tubes (conical), in Tubes & vials.

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Oak Ridge High-Speed Centrifuge Tubes made with is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Centrifuge tubes (conical), inside Tubes & vials, in Labware.

A centrifuge tube is conical so a pellet collects at the tip, and it is rated for a relative centrifugal force. A 15 mL tube and a 50 mL tube are different rotors. Polypropylene is the ordinary plastic. The cap has to survive the same force as the tube.

A tube holds a small sample upright. A test tube is the open glass or plastic cylinder. A centrifuge tube is conical so a pellet forms at the tip, and it is rated for a centrifugal force the rotor will actually reach. A vial is a small closed bottle, often for a sample that will sit in an instrument. NMR tubes are a special case: the glass has to be uniform or the spectrum is the tube, not the sample. Laboratory ware is listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
