Description

Nalgene™ Oak Ridge PPCO centrifuge tubes for high-speed applications are translucent round tubes that allow visual inspection of the contents during centrifugation. Made from polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) and fitted with polypropylene (PP) screw caps, they are specified for high-speed use up to 10.000 × g. Each tube has a nominal capacity of 28 ml (0,028 l), a round profile, no graduations and no writing area. The tubes are autoclavable, supporting routine laboratory sterilisation between runs. These Oak Ridge tubes from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics are established consumables for high-speed separations in research and analytical laboratories. Packaging is 10 tubes per pack and 100 tubes per case, corresponding to a pack size of 100 pc(s). The translucent PPCO body combines the chemical resistance associated with polypropylene copolymers with the mechanical strength needed at elevated g-forces, making the tubes suitable for clarified lysates, density-based separations and other high-speed protocols.

This article is part of Centrifuge tubes (conical), in Tubes & vials.

Questions about Nalgene™ Oak Ridge High-Speed PPCO Centrifuge Tubes

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Oak Ridge High-Speed PPCO Centrifuge Tubes is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Centrifuge tubes (conical), inside Tubes & vials, in Labware.

A centrifuge tube is conical so a pellet collects at the tip, and it is rated for a relative centrifugal force. A 15 mL tube and a 50 mL tube are different rotors. Polypropylene is the ordinary plastic. The cap has to survive the same force as the tube.

A tube holds a small sample upright. A test tube is the open glass or plastic cylinder. A centrifuge tube is conical so a pellet forms at the tip, and it is rated for a centrifugal force the rotor will actually reach. A vial is a small closed bottle, often for a sample that will sit in an instrument. NMR tubes are a special case: the glass has to be uniform or the spectrum is the tube, not the sample. Laboratory ware is listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
