Description
Nalgene™ Economy wide-mouth bottles are durable, break-resistant laboratory containers moulded from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Each translucent natural-coloured bottle offers a nominal capacity of 250 ml (8 oz) and a wide-mouth opening with a 33 mm inner neck diameter and 43 mm neck finish, simplifying filling and retrieval of solids, powders and viscous liquids. The round bottle body measures 61 mm in diameter and 131 mm in height and ships with a matching natural translucent polypropylene screw closure sized 43 mm, supplied without a liner. These economy bottles from manufacturer Thermo Scientific are produced to the quality requirements of ISO 13485:2016; bottles and closures comply with USP Class VI and with US 21 CFR 177.1520 for food and beverage contact. They are not autoclavable and suit ambient laboratory handling rather than steam sterilisation. Typical uses include routine sample storage, bulk reagent holding and general wet-chemistry workflows where HDPE impact strength and chemical resistance are advantageous. Supplied as a case of 72 bottles with closures included.

Questions about Nalgene™ Wide-Mouth HDPE Economy Bottles with Closure
What is this article?
Nalgene™ Wide-Mouth HDPE Economy Bottles with Closure is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Plastic bottles (narrow & wide mouth), inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.
A plastic bottle is polyethylene, polypropylene or a fluoropolymer, narrow-mouth for pouring or wide-mouth for powders. It is the choice when the bottle must not shatter, and it is the wrong choice for solvents that swell the plastic.
A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
