Description

Nalgene™ Economy HDPE wide-mouth bottles with closure are natural translucent containers intended for short-term general laboratory and outdoor applications. Each bottle provides a nominal volume of 500 ml (16 oz) and features a wide mouth with a 44 mm inner neck diameter that eases filling, pouring and cleaning when handling liquids, powders or viscous materials. Constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the round vessels measure 73 mm in diameter and 168 mm in height. Matching natural translucent polypropylene screw closures (53 mm) without liners are included for a secure seal during transport and storage. These economy bottles from manufacturer Thermo Scientific are manufactured in accordance with ISO 13485:2016 quality requirements; bottles and closures comply with USP Class VI and with US 21 CFR 177.1520 for food and beverage contact. They are not autoclavable, making them suitable for disposable or limited-reuse workflows rather than repeated steam sterilization. The bulk case of 125 pieces supports cost-efficient stocking for sample collection, temporary reagent holding and everyday laboratory logistics where reliable HDPE packaging is required.

A plastic bottle is polyethylene, polypropylene or a fluoropolymer, narrow-mouth for pouring or wide-mouth for powders. It is the choice when the bottle must not shatter, and it is the wrong choice for solvents that swell the plastic.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
