Description
Waterproof handheld meter for dissolved oxygen with HI764113 optical probe is a rugged portable instrument for optical DO determination in fresh and salt water. Based on fluorescence quenching, the opdo principle measures the decay of an excited luminophore after pulsed blue LED excitation and relates that signal to oxygen concentration at the sensor cap surface. The system covers 0,00 to 50 mg/L (0,0 to 500,0 % saturation), barometric pressure from 420 to 850 mmHg and temperature from −5,0 to 50,0 °C. Optical sensing needs no membrane or electrolyte, does not consume oxygen, is flow-independent and requires little maintenance with long intervals between calibrations. Automatic one- or two-point calibration at 100 % and 0 %, automatic temperature compensation via the probe sensor, IP67 meter and waterproof Quick Connect DIN coupling, GLP data stored with readings, a sunlight-readable backlit graphic LCD, on-demand logging of up to 4000 measurements and up to 200 hours from four AA batteries support field work. Supplied by manufacturer Hanna Instruments in a fitted carrying case with weighted protective cap, zero-oxygen solution, beakers, USB-C cable and batteries.

Questions about OPDO portable optical DO meter
What is this article?
OPDO portable optical DO meter is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Dissolved oxygen & multiparameter meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A dissolved-oxygen meter reads oxygen in a liquid, optically or with a Clark cell. A multiparameter meter adds pH, conductivity or both on one instrument. The sensor cap or the membrane is the consumable. A reading in air and a reading in water are different calibrations.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
