Description

pH buffer capsule 10,01 at 25 °C provides a compact dry-granule route to a high-alkaline calibration standard. Open the capsule, transfer the granulate into 100 ml of deionised water and stir until dissolved to obtain a ready-to-use buffer solution. Prepared with deionised water, the buffer meets a tolerance of pH ±0,02; sample volumes need not be exact, so volumetric flasks and pipettes are unnecessary for routine work. The pack of 10 capsules (Labbox) includes a NIST certificate supporting measurement traceability. After preparation the solution remains usable for about one week. Where the capsules serve only as a secondary check, distilled or tap water may be substituted. Capsules have no expiry date, which simplifies inventory for laboratories that calibrate meters in the alkaline range, run teaching practicals or maintain portable kits. Pack net weight is 0,020 kg.

This article is part of pH buffers & conductivity standards, in Buffers & pH solutions.

Questions about pH Buffer capsule pH 10,01 at 25°C, 10 pcs

What is this article?

pH Buffer capsule pH 10,01 at 25°C, 10 pcs is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in pH buffers & conductivity standards, inside Buffers & pH solutions, in Lab chemicals.

A pH buffer for calibration has a stated pH at a stated temperature, often traceable. A conductivity standard has a stated conductivity. They are not general reagents and they should not be poured back into the bottle. The temperature of the measurement has to be the temperature on the label, or the meter has to compensate.

A buffer resists a change in pH when a little acid or base is added. It does that because a weak acid and its conjugate base are both present. A pH buffer used to calibrate a meter has a stated value at a stated temperature. A biological buffer such as Tris or HEPES is chosen because it holds the pH of a living system and does not poison it. Conductivity standards are the sister articles for a conductivity meter. The ions are on PubChem. Electrode calibration practice sits with EURAMET and BELAC.
