Description

Phase separation paper Grade 480 is a silicone-impregnated laboratory filter paper engineered for reliable liquid–liquid phase separation. Because the paper is hydrophobic, the aqueous phase is retained while organic solvents pass through the medium. Filtration flow stops automatically as soon as the solvent has completely passed, which helps avoid unwanted carry-over of the aqueous layer. In many laboratory procedures this grade can replace a classical separating funnel, simplifying extractions and reducing the amount of glassware that must be cleaned and handled. The product is supplied as a pack of 100 pieces with a net weight of 0,142 kg, suited to routine analytical chemistry, organic synthesis work-up and general sample preparation. Phase separation paper Grade 480 from manufacturer Sartorius offers a practical route to solvent recovery and phase isolation without specialised apparatus. Consistent silicone impregnation supports reproducible hydrophobic behaviour with common laboratory solvents. This consumable integrates easily into standard filtration workflows wherever rapid, clean separation of immiscible liquids is required on the bench.

Questions about Phase separator paper / Grade 480

What is this article?

Phase separator paper / Grade 480 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Filtration accessories, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

Filtration accessories are the holders, the gaskets, the manifolds and the flasks a membrane or a Büchner setup needs. A holder for 47 mm discs does not clamp a 25 mm disc. The gasket is what actually seals.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
