Description

PORAFIL CA membrane filters, white, are cellulose acetate (CA) membrane discs with a pore size of 0,80 µm and a diameter of 50 mm. Intended for laboratory membrane filtration, they provide a defined pore geometry for clarification, particle retention and general sample preparation where a 0,80 µm rating is required. The white CA medium is suited to aqueous and compatible solvent workflows typical of analytical, research and quality-control laboratories. Each pack contains 100 pieces, supporting routine use with standard 50 mm filter holders and funnels. These filters are supplied non-sterile from manufacturer Macherey-Nagel as part of the PORAFIL CA range. Cellulose acetate membranes are widely chosen when low protein binding and reliable flow behaviour are needed for day-to-day filtration steps. The 50 mm format integrates easily into existing bench setups, while the consistent 0,80 µm pore size helps standardise protocols across batches. Use them for preparatory filtration, particulate removal and related membrane applications that specify CA media at this pore width and diameter.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA CA, white, PW:0,80 µm, d: 50 mm

What is this article?

PORA CA, white, PW:0,80 µm, d: 50 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
