Description

PORA NC membrane filters are white cellulose nitrate / mixed cellulose ester (CN, MCE) discs offering a pore size of 0,45 µm and a diameter of 100 mm. These PORAFIL NC membranes are intended for laboratory filtration and particle retention where a mixed ester matrix and a 0,45 µm cut-off are required. The larger 100 mm format increases filtration area for higher sample volumes or faster throughput in compatible holders. Each pack contains 25 pieces. The membranes are supplied non-sterile and are not classified as dangerous goods for transport under the applicable ADR special provision and IATA exception. Produced by Macherey-Nagel, the PORA NC line is suited to clarification, analytical sample preparation and general filtration tasks in research, quality control and process laboratories. The white surface supports straightforward visual inspection of retained material. Select this 100 mm variant when apparatus diameter and workflow demand a larger disc while maintaining the same pore size and CN/MCE material specification as smaller PORA NC formats.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA NC, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 100 mm

What is this article?

PORA NC, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 100 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
