Description
RCT basic S003 is a magnetic stirrer with heating fitted with a Swiss plug, long established as a reference instrument in laboratories and research facilities. It handles stirring tasks up to 20 l (H2O) and reaches hot-plate temperatures of up to 310 °C. An external temperature sensor PT 1000.60 is included so temperature can be measured and controlled directly in the medium. The current generation offers a hardened, break-resistant glass surface for chemical resistance and easy cleaning, a large LED display with illuminated status symbols, plus USB and RS232 interfaces for PC control and documentation with labworldsoft®. Safety features include an adjustable hot-plate safety circuit, residual-heat warning above 50 °C, confirmation mode, automatic heater cut-off if the external sensor is not immersed, IP42 enclosure and TÜV SÜD certification to IEC 61010-1 for unattended operation. An aluminium hot plate ensures homogeneous heat transfer, soft start protects stir bars, and dual control modes enable fast heating or precise tempering without overshoot. This unit from manufacturer IKA combines a maintenance-free EC motor with efficient electronics for reduced self-heating and energy-efficient laboratory work.
This article is part of Magnetic stirrers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about RCT basic S003, Magnetic stirrer with heating with Swiss plug
What is this article?
RCT basic S003, Magnetic stirrer with heating with Swiss plug is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Magnetic stirrers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.
A magnetic stirrer is the motor and the plate under the flask. Many also heat. The stirring capacity is the litres of a water-like liquid it can turn, and a viscous liquid defeats a rating that was measured on water.
Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
