Description

Rotilabo® ellipsoidal magnetic stirring rods are PTFE-coated laboratory stir bars with a diameter of 16 mm and a length of 35 mm, designed as accessories for magnetic stirrers. The ellipsoidal geometry promotes smooth rotation and efficient mixing in flasks, beakers and other vessels used for sample preparation, dissolution and reaction work. A continuous PTFE coating provides chemical resistance at the contact surface and helps protect both the bar and the vessel during routine stirring. The defined dimensions support reproducible selection when matching stir-bar length and diameter to vessel volume and stirrer drive strength. Typical use includes general laboratory mixing, buffer and media preparation, and controlled agitation in analytical or synthetic workflows. With a listed weight of 0,017 kg per piece, the unit is easy to handle, store and replace as part of standard magnetic stirrer accessory sets in teaching, research and quality-control laboratories.

This article is part of Magnetic stirring bars, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?

Rotilabo®-ellipsoidal magn. stirr. rods, PTFE-coated, Ø 16 mm, length 35 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Carl Roth for laboratory use. It sits in Magnetic stirring bars, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A magnetic stirring bar is the magnet coated in PTFE that spins inside a vessel, driven by a stirrer underneath. Length and shape, plain, oval or cross, have to suit the flask. A bar left against a dry glass wall will grind it.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
