Description

Rotor S-4-104 with 4 DWP buckets is a medium-capacity swing-out rotor delivered complete with four plate buckets for deep-well plate applications. It reaches a maximum of 3214 × g at 3900 rpm and accepts a wide adapter range for tubes and bottles from 0,2 mL to 750 mL as well as plates. Aerodynamically shaped round buckets can cut energy use by up to 36 % versus rotor A-4-81, while mixed loading with two plate buckets and two round buckets adds operational flexibility. Optional aerosol-tight QuickLock lids support safer handling of hazardous samples; aerosol tightness was tested by Public Health England, Porton Down (UK). Buckets, lids and adapters are autoclavable at 121 °C for 20 min. Older instruments may need a software upgrade before this rotor can be used. Offered by manufacturer Eppendorf for versatile plate and vessel workflows, the set is supplied as one complete unit with a net weight of 8,600 kg and is suited to routine and higher-throughput centrifugation tasks in research and clinical laboratories.

This article is part of Rotors, in Centrifuges.

What is this article?

ROTOR 4x750ML W/4 DWP BUCKETS (5810/R) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Eppendorf for laboratory use. It sits in Rotors, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

A centrifuge rotor is the rotating part that holds the tubes, and it is rated for a maximum speed and a maximum load. A swing-out rotor and a fixed-angle rotor pellet differently. A rotor from another centrifuge does not belong on this drive, even when it seems to fit.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
