Description
Transmitted light microscope KERN OBS 105 is a solid school microscope built for first steps in microscopy and biology instruction. Intuitive controls make daily handling straightforward in primary and secondary education, training and hobby settings. Continuously dimmable 0,5 W LED illumination provides even specimen lighting and long service life, while rechargeable batteries allow mobile operation. The model includes a height-adjustable, focusable 1,25 ABBE condenser with aperture diaphragm for controlled light bundling, plus a mechanical stage that enables fast positioning and smooth movement of the preparation. Focusing uses bilateral coarse and fine drives. A wide selection of eyepieces and objectives is available within the OBS series from manufacturer Kern. Suitable samples are translucent, thin, high-contrast and less demanding preparations such as plant tissue, stained cells or parasites. Delivered as one piece with a net weight of 3,2 kg and a gross weight of 4,0 kg, this microscope supports efficient classroom workflows that combine adjustable illumination with convenient specimen scanning.

Questions about Transmitted Light Microscope KERN OBS, 105
What is this article?
Transmitted Light Microscope KERN OBS, 105 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Light & fluorescence microscopes, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.
A light microscope looks through a thin specimen. A fluorescence microscope adds a light source and filters matched to a dye, so only the labelled structure shows. The filter set has to match the dye's excitation and emission. A bright-field microscope without those filters cannot do that experiment.
A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
