Description

Vivacon® 500 centrifugal units with a 50.000 MWCO Hydrosart® membrane are designed for fast DNA concentration and buffer exchange of samples up to 500 µl. They are also a practical choice for protein fractionation in molecular biology and biochemistry workflows. Hydrosart® membranes support high recoveries from dilute samples, and a reverse spinning step ensures complete recovery of the concentrate after centrifugation. Each pack contains 100 pieces, suited to repeated small-volume preparations on standard laboratory centrifuges. The defined molecular weight cut-off helps retain target macromolecules while allowing smaller species and buffer components to pass. Devices of this type from manufacturer Sartorius are established for gentle concentration, desalting and buffer exchange of nucleic acids and proteins. The pack net weight is 0,350 kg. Vivacon® 500 combines a compact centrifugal format with Hydrosart® membrane chemistry to streamline sample preparation ahead of downstream analytical or preparative steps without complex hardware.

This article is part of Ultrafiltration & concentrators, in Filtration.

Questions about Vivacon 500, 50kDa HY, 100pc

What is this article?

Vivacon 500, 50kDa HY, 100pc is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Ultrafiltration & concentrators, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

An ultrafiltration device holds back macromolecules above a stated molecular-weight cutoff and passes salts and water. It concentrates a protein or exchanges its buffer. The cutoff, the volume and whether it is a centrifugal device or a stirred cell are the specification. A 0.2 µm syringe filter does not do this.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
