Description

Vivaspin 20, 300.000 MWCO PES is a centrifugal concentrator that follows the original crossflow spin filter principle for rapid ultrafiltration and diafiltration (UF/DF). The unit is fitted with a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane rated at 300.000 molecular weight cut-off and accepts feed volumes from 0,1 to 98 mL. With one filter, concentration factors up to 400× are achievable, enabling strong sample volume reduction in a single centrifugal step. Typical laboratory uses cover diafiltration, polishing and ultrafiltration of macromolecular samples. Supplied as a pack of 12 pieces, the product is non-sterile and the pack net weight is 0,400 kg. These Vivaspin 20 devices from manufacturer Sartorius combine a higher PES MWCO with the familiar spin-filter workflow for feed volumes in the stated range. The format supports UF/DF protocols that need reliable cut-off performance together with high concentration capability. Crossflow spin filtration with 300.000 MWCO PES membrane chemistry addresses routine concentration and buffer-exchange needs where larger pore ratings are preferred within the Vivaspin 20 family.

This article is part of Ultrafiltration & concentrators, in Filtration.

Questions about Vivaspin 20, 300kDa PES, 12pc

What is this article?

Vivaspin 20, 300kDa PES, 12pc is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Ultrafiltration & concentrators, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

An ultrafiltration device holds back macromolecules above a stated molecular-weight cutoff and passes salts and water. It concentrates a protein or exchanges its buffer. The cutoff, the volume and whether it is a centrifugal device or a stirred cell are the specification. A 0.2 µm syringe filter does not do this.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
