Description

Vivaspin 500, 10.000 MWCO PES is a centrifugal crossflow spin filter for fast ultrafiltration and diafiltration (UF/DF) of laboratory samples. Equipped with a polyethersulfone membrane at a 10.000 molecular-weight cut-off, the device is intended for feed volumes from 0,1 to 98 mL and can deliver concentration factors up to 400× using a single filter. Typical applications include ultrafiltration, diafiltration and polishing steps in protein and biomolecule workflows. The pack contains 25 pieces and is offered by manufacturer Sartorius for routine sample concentration and buffer exchange on the bench. Vivaspin 500 units combine crossflow filtration with standard centrifuge operation, supporting efficient sample preparation in a compact format. The PES membrane provides defined retention at the stated MWCO for controlled macromolecular separation during UF/DF. These non-sterile filters are suited to general laboratory use where reliable concentration performance and convenient pack sizes are required. Net pack weight is 0,109 kg, practical for shared lab inventory and everyday sample-prep stock.

This article is part of Ultrafiltration & concentrators, in Filtration.

Questions about Vivaspin 500, 10kDa PES, 25pc

What is this article?

Vivaspin 500, 10kDa PES, 25pc is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Ultrafiltration & concentrators, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

An ultrafiltration device holds back macromolecules above a stated molecular-weight cutoff and passes salts and water. It concentrates a protein or exchanges its buffer. The cutoff, the volume and whether it is a centrifugal device or a stirred cell are the specification. A 0.2 µm syringe filter does not do this.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
