Description

BOLA suction filter is a compact PTFE inlet filter for laboratory fluid lines, combining a filter-candle holder with internal UNF 1/4'' 28G thread and an easily exchangeable porous PTFE filter candle. With a pore size of 2 µm it is intended as a pre-filter ahead of pump systems, helping to protect seals, pistons or column packings from premature wear caused by particulate contamination. The unit is dimensioned for tubing with 1,6 mm inner diameter (1/16), while the filter element itself measures 14 mm in diameter and 25 mm in length. Outer tubing reference diameter is 3,2 mm. Manufactured entirely for contact with PTFE wetted parts, the filter offers the chemical resistance typical of this material in routine laboratory use. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer Bohlender with a net weight of 0,0045 kg, it is a practical protective component for suction and transfer lines in analytical and preparative set-ups where clean feed to pumps and sensitive components is required.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

What is this article?

BOLA Suction Filters, UNF 1/4''28G, 2 µm, a Ø 3,2 mm Made of PTFE. is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
