Description

CHROMAFIL PA-20/15 MS BIGbox is a disposable syringe filter with a polyamide (nylon) membrane, a pore size of 0,2 µm and a membrane diameter of 15 mm. The housing is colour-coded yellow on top and green underneath to support rapid visual identification at the bench. These ready-to-use filters are intended for attachment to standard laboratory syringes and help remove particulates from samples ahead of chromatographic or other analytical work. The polyamide membrane is a practical choice for many aqueous and polar organic matrices commonly handled in sample preparation. Formerly marketed as CHROMAFIL AO-20/15 MS, the current PA-20/15 MS designation keeps the same core membrane geometry while fitting the CHROMAFIL MS range. Packaged as a BIGbox of 800 pieces in a PE screw-top container from manufacturer Macherey-Nagel, the bulk format suits laboratories with steady filtration demand and reduces frequent reordering. The 15 mm membrane diameter offers a balanced filtration area for routine sample volumes while remaining compact on the syringe. Non-sterile units for general laboratory filtration workflows complete this high-count pack.

Questions about CHROMAFIL PA-20/15 MS, BIGbox

What is this article?

CHROMAFIL PA-20/15 MS, BIGbox is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Syringe filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A syringe filter is a membrane in a plastic housing on a Luer fitting. Pore size, membrane polymer and diameter are the three choices. 0.2 µm is the sterilising and the HPLC-particle cut. 0.45 µm is the coarser clarification. Aqueous and solvent-resistant membranes are different polymers.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
