Description

CTA membranes with a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of 5.000 and a diameter of 47 mm are disc filters designed for ultrafiltration and diafiltration of macromolecules. They support concentration and protein removal (UF), buffer exchange and desalting (DF), as well as electroultrafiltration (EUF) in laboratory workflows. Offered under the Hydrosart® registered trademark, these cellulose triacetate membranes are compatible with traditional and legacy stirred cells and are recommended for custom applications requiring flexible membrane selection. The 47 mm format integrates readily with standard stirred-cell hardware used across research and process-development laboratories. Supplied as a pack of 10 non-sterile pieces from manufacturer Sartorius, the membranes provide a practical consumable option for routine UF and DF work. Laboratories can apply them wherever controlled retention based on molecular weight is needed for sample preparation, purification support or analytical processing of proteins and other macromolecules.

This article is part of Ultrafiltration & concentrators, in Filtration.

Questions about Ultrafilter, 5kDa CTA, 47mm, 10pc

What is this article?

Ultrafilter, 5kDa CTA, 47mm, 10pc is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Ultrafiltration & concentrators, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

An ultrafiltration device holds back macromolecules above a stated molecular-weight cutoff and passes salts and water. It concentrates a protein or exchanges its buffer. The cutoff, the volume and whether it is a centrifugal device or a stirred cell are the specification. A 0.2 µm syringe filter does not do this.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
