Description
DURAN® thick-walled filtering beaker with a nominal volume of 20 l is a cylindrical laboratory vessel with a straight side wall. Thanks to this form, beakers are universally applicable laboratory vessels and mainly serve as boiling glass, collecting vessel and for preparing, mixing and heating solutions. The large vessel opening permits easy filling. Beakers are available in different designs including high and low form, with or without spout and with or without scale. This thick-walled filtering beaker features a precise spout for clean working. Owing to reduced thermal shock resistance it is only limitedly usable as boiling glass. An easily readable scale with line graduation enables measurement of the contents, while the white printed image is fired on and therefore permanently durable. Applications include filtering, heating, diluting solutions, mixing several components and measuring liquid quantities; the 10 000 ml, 15 000 ml and 20 000 ml sizes are supplied without graduation. Made of borosilicate glass 3.3 from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the beaker has a net weight of 3,675 kg and is offered as a single piece.

Questions about DURAN® Beaker, heavy-wall, filtering beaker
What is this article?
DURAN® Beaker, heavy-wall, filtering beaker is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Beakers, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.
A beaker is an open, straight-sided working vessel with a spout. It is for dissolving, heating and pouring. The graduations are a guide, not a volumetric calibration. Low form and tall form differ in stability and in how easily a liquid splashes.
A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
