Description

DURAN® evaporator flask blank, pear-shaped, 250 ml is a borosilicate glass 3.3 blank designed for subsequent conversion into ground-joint evaporator flasks. The pear-shaped form provides uniform wall thickness together with good rotational symmetry, which is advantageous once the flask is finished for use on rotary evaporators. A standard ground joint socket can be moulded or attached later, enabling solvent evaporation applications after processing. Offered as a glass article for further fabrication, it suits laboratories and glass workshops that need consistent geometry and reliable DURAN® material quality. Nominal volume is 250 ml (0,25 l), with a net weight of 0,15 kg and gross weight of 0,174 kg. This blank from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is supplied as a single piece, ready for conversion into a ground joint flask for rotary evaporator workflows once the appropriate joint finishing has been completed.

This article is part of Round-bottom flasks, in Beakers & flasks. See also Flat-bottom flasks.

Questions about DURAN® Blank for Evaporating Flask, pear-shape

What is this article?

DURAN® Blank for Evaporating Flask, pear-shape is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
