Description

DURAN® desiccator with knob lid, flat flange and without connection (DN 200) is a vacuum-suitable laboratory vessel with ground joint lid for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3, it provides robust chemical and thermal performance in everyday laboratory use. A sieve plate of metal or porcelain separates the lower base compartment, where desiccant binds humidity from samples placed on the plate. Although this model is supplied without a stopcock connection, vacuum can accelerate drying once a suitable stopcock is fitted, as reduced pressure speeds evaporation. The flat ground joint should be well greased to ease lid release after evacuation. All DURAN® desiccators from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are vacuum-tight and rated for full vacuum down to 0 mbar. Substantial wall thickness and precisely finished joints permit extended storage under vacuum. Compatible spare parts such as lids, bases, stopcocks and closures are interchangeable when the DN size is observed. Ideal for moisture removal from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials, vacuum drying and safe work under reduced pressure. Pack size is 1 piece with a net weight of 4,16 kg.

Questions about DURAN® Desiccator, with knobbed lid, with flat flange, no connection

What is this article?

DURAN® Desiccator, with knobbed lid, with flat flange, no connection is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Reaction vessels & jacketed vessels, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A reaction vessel is the flask a synthesis actually runs in, sometimes jacketed so a fluid can heat or cool the wall. The joints, the working volume and the jacket connections are the specification. It is not a storage bottle.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
