Description

DURAN® filter disc with unfused and centred rim and unfinished surfaces is a porous sintered glass plate made from borosilicate glass 3.3. Featuring a diameter of 35 mm and porosity class 0, it is produced by sintering glass powder of defined grain-size distribution into a solid porous body employed as filter material in plate form. These discs are well suited to separations involving strong acids or alkalis and deliver advantages over plastic or paper filter media. They are offered in six porosity classes conforming to ISO 4796 and ASTM EI28-99. Selecting the correct porosity ensures the largest pore width lies slightly below the size of the smallest particles to be retained. The disc supports vacuum filtration at a maximum pressure difference of 1 bar and is supplied as a glass article for further processing. Available from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences in packs of 10 pc(s) with net weight 0,004 kg, the unfused centred rim and unfinished surfaces enable straightforward integration into custom laboratory filtration assemblies requiring robust chemical resistance.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated

What is this article?

DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
