Description
DURAN® filter disc with unfused and centred rim and unfinished surfaces is a sintered porous glass plate intended for laboratory filtration and separation work. With a diameter of 50 mm and porosity class 0, it is formed by sintering glass powder of defined grain-size distribution into a solid yet permeable body. Manufactured from DURAN® borosilicate glass 3.3 by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the disc performs reliably in contact with strong acids or alkalis and therefore offers clear advantages over plastic or paper filter media. Six porosity classes conforming to ISO 4796 and ASTM E128-99 are available, allowing the largest pore width to be matched just below the size of the smallest particles to be retained. The article is supplied as a glass component for further processing and is suitable for vacuum filtration at a maximum pressure difference of 1 bar. Unfinished surfaces and the unfused centred rim facilitate incorporation into custom apparatus. Each pack contains 5 pieces with a net weight of 0,009 kg per disc, providing a robust filtration solution for chemical and analytical laboratories.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated
What is this article?
DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
