Description
DURAN® filtration apparatus with 2000 ml suction flask and 500 ml receiver vessel is a versatile laboratory unit made from high-quality borosilicate glass. The medium contacts only glass and PTFE, rendering the apparatus nearly universally suitable for aqueous and organic solutions. A PTFE plate holder accepts both slotted sieve plates and porous glass filter plates with porosities from 10 µm to 160 µm, supporting coarse, fine and analytical filtrations as well as preparation of HPLC media and particle-contamination analysis. The graduated receiver vessel simplifies dosing and evaluation, while interchangeable filter plates and the PTFE adapter permit rapid porosity changes and thorough cleaning from both sides. The proven DURAN® suction flask together with a PTFE olive suitable for tubing of 8 mm internal diameter enables safe vacuum filtration. This filtration set from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is well suited to residue analysis, purification of solutions and bacterial-contamination studies. Uniform heating is recommended to avoid thermal stress; all components are available individually as spare parts.

Questions about DURAN® Filtering Apparatus
What is this article?
DURAN® Filtering Apparatus is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Bottle-top & vacuum filtration units, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A bottle-top filter or a vacuum filtration unit sits on a bottle and pulls a liquid through a membrane under vacuum. Pore size and membrane are the same choice as a syringe filter, at a larger area. A sterile unit is a stated claim. The bottle neck has to match.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
