Description

DURAN® filter flask with glass olive in bottle shape serves as a sturdy filtrate receiver for vacuum filtration. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3 with substantial wall thickness, the vessel is vacuum-resistant and enables safe operation under reduced pressure. The lateral glass-olive connection provides the vacuum inlet, while the wide neck is dimensioned to hold a rubber adapter sleeve and filter funnel. Volumes greater than 2000 ml are produced in bottle form; this 10 l nominal-volume flask follows that geometry. The side-tubulature configuration has long simplified preparative and analytical laboratory practice and reduced handling hazards. A white print scale or marking is permanently fired into the glass for lasting legibility. Applications cover aspiration of liquids, filtration under diminished pressure and standard vacuum filtration workflows. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the flask offers reliable performance for larger-scale filtration tasks in research, process-development and quality-control environments.

Questions about DURAN® Filtering Flask, with glass hose connection, bottle shape

What is this article?

DURAN® Filtering Flask, with glass hose connection, bottle shape is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Erlenmeyer flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

An Erlenmeyer, or conical, flask has a flat base and a narrowing wall so a liquid can be swirled. It is the ordinary culture and titration flask. A baffled wall is a different article, used when the swirl must turn the liquid over.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
