Description
DURAN® filter flask with side tubulature, bottle shape, is a 5 l suction flask serving as the filtrate collection vessel in vacuum filtration. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3 with massive wall thickness, it withstands vacuum and is intended for laboratory filtration under reduced pressure. The side tubulature provides the vacuum connection; the wide neck accommodates a rubber sleeve plus Büchner funnel or filter nutsche. Capacities greater than 2 l are supplied in bottle form instead of Erlenmeyer shape. The side-tubulature design simplifies preparative and analytical procedures and simultaneously reduces accident hazard. These flasks fulfil the provisions of the German Equipment and Product Safety Act. Permanent white print is fired onto the glass for long-term legibility. Typical applications include aspiration of liquids, vacuum filtration and safe work under vacuum. This bottle-shaped 5 l filter flask from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences has a net weight of 2,921 kg and offers a sturdy, medium-to-large capacity receiver for routine and preparative filtration.

Questions about DURAN® Filtering Flask, with side-arm socket, bottle shape
What is this article?
DURAN® Filtering Flask, with side-arm socket, bottle shape is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Erlenmeyer flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.
An Erlenmeyer, or conical, flask has a flat base and a narrowing wall so a liquid can be swirled. It is the ordinary culture and titration flask. A baffled wall is a different article, used when the swirl must turn the liquid over.
A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
