Description

DURAN® flat-bottom flask with NS 29/32 is a 2000 ml laboratory flask manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Flat-bottom flasks are a form variant of round-bottom flasks and possess a flattened base on which they can stand freely. The standard ground joint enables a precise fit to further ground-joint components such as columns, thermometers, dropping funnels and ground stoppers. Owing to their geometry these flasks are suitable only for pressureless work. Special features include a tight seal provided by the standard joint and a permanently burnt-in white print that remains durable over time. The flat base allows the flask to be set down without a support ring. Typical applications comprise dilution of solutions and heating. Volume sizes 250 ml (NS 24/29), 500 ml (NS 24/29), 1000 ml (NS 24/29) and 2000 ml (NS 29/32) are not manufactured according to DIN ISO. This 2 l flask with NS 29/32 joint is offered by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences and is supplied in packs of 10 pieces; net weight is 0,48 kg and gross weight 0,58 kg per unit.

Questions about DURAN® Flat Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint

What is this article?

DURAN® Flat Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
