Description
DURAN® three-neck round-bottom flask with standard ground joints (NS) and vertical side necks is a multi-neck laboratory flask with a nominal volume of 1000 ml (1 l). It is equipped with a centre neck NS 29/32 and parallel side necks NS 14/23. Multi-neck flasks of this design are predominantly used for distillation, fractionation and reaction work, enabling attachments, columns, thermometers, dropping funnels, boiling capillaries and similar accessories to be fitted as required. The standard ground joints provide a tight seal, while the vertical side-neck orientation and overall geometry support very uniform heating. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the flask features a fired-on white print that remains permanently durable. Typical applications include distillation, extraction, connection to further glass apparatus, heating, and use in heating baths and heating mantles. The 1000 ml size with NS 29/32 is not manufactured according to DIN ISO. Supplied as a single piece, this three-neck round-bottom flask offers versatile access points for demanding laboratory setups requiring simultaneous connection of multiple components.
This article is part of Round-bottom flasks, in Beakers & flasks. See also Flat-bottom flasks.

Questions about DURAN® Triple-Neck Round Bottom Flask, standard ground joint, parallel side necks
What is this article?
DURAN® Triple-Neck Round Bottom Flask, standard ground joint, parallel side necks is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.
A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.
A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
