Description

VitraPOR® biplanar glass filter plates in borosilicate 3.3 with a diameter of 170 mm and porosity grade 0 provide a defined filtration element for laboratory and process use. Each plate is produced to a thickness of 9,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 0,5 mm, and both faces are ground to give an exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface. This geometry supports uniform seating in holders and consistent contact with mating components when a large-diameter sintered disc is required. Borosilicate 3.3 glass delivers the chemical resistance and thermal behaviour expected in demanding wet-chemistry and sample-preparation environments. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the plate suits assemblies that specify porosity 0 media for higher flow and retention of coarser particles. The ground, plane-parallel surfaces help ensure reliable sealing and reproducible installation. Porosity 0 represents the coarsest standard grade in this series, making the disc appropriate where open structure and mechanical stability of a thick biplanar filter plate are needed rather than fine retention.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 170 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 9.5 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
