Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, biplanar, is a precision-sintered disc in borosilicate glass 3.3 with a diameter of 380 mm, porosity grade 0 and a thickness of 25,0 mm (± 0,5 mm). Both faces are ground to deliver exact thickness and a plane-parallel working surface, supporting uniform contact and reproducible filtration geometry in laboratory and process set-ups. The biplanar design suits mounting in filter assemblies, support frames or custom apparatus where a large-diameter porous glass plate is required. Porosity 0 provides the coarsest standard VitraPOR® grade in this series, appropriate for prefiltration, gas distribution or mechanical support layers depending on the application. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the plate offers the chemical resistance and thermal stability typical of borosilicate 3.3 glassware. Ground, plan-parallel surfaces help maintain dimensional control when the disc is clamped or sealed. Ideal for labs specifying large VitraPOR® filter plates with defined porosity and tight thickness tolerance for filtration, sparging or apparatus construction.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 380 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 25.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
