Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, biplanar, is a precision-sintered disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, with a diameter of 380 mm, porosity grade 1 and a thickness of 25,0 mm (± 0,5 mm). The working faces are ground so that thickness is held to a tight tolerance and the surfaces remain plane-parallel, which supports even sealing and consistent flow across the full plate area. This large-format biplanar disc is intended for laboratory and technical filtration assemblies, support structures or custom glass apparatus that require a defined porous glass medium. Porosity 1 sits in the finer range relative to grade 0 and is selected when a denser sinter structure is needed for the separation or distribution task. Offered as one piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the plate combines the corrosion and temperature behaviour of borosilicate 3.3 with controlled geometry for mounting. Ground, plan-parallel faces aid reproducible installation in frames, holders or sealed housings. Suited to users who specify VitraPOR® filter plates by diameter, porosity and thickness for filtration, gas handling or apparatus build-out.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 380 mm, Por. 1 Thickness 25.0 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
