Description

Filter plate, biplanar, 90 mm, Por. 3, thickness 5,5 mm ± 0,2 mm is a VitraPOR® glass filter disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. It features a 90 mm diameter, porosity grade 3 and a thickness of 5,5 mm held to a tolerance of ± 0,2 mm. Both surfaces are ground to achieve exact thickness and a plan-parallel finish for consistent performance in filtration hardware. This plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon is intended for laboratory filtration, clarification and gas-distribution duties that benefit from a defined intermediate pore size. Borosilicate 3.3 glass provides chemical durability and thermal resistance suitable for a wide range of aqueous and organic media. Supplied in packs of 5 pieces, the biplanar discs fit standard holders and custom filtration assemblies. The ground, plan-parallel faces promote uniform sealing and reproducible flow characteristics in analytical, preparative and process filtration applications requiring reliable glass frits of porosity 3.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 90 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 5.5 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
