Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate is a round, centred disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3, with a diameter of 130 mm and porosity grade 3. Nominal thickness is 10,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 2,2 mm; the surface is untreated, supporting integration into laboratory filtration set-ups and custom fritted glassware. Offered as a single piece, this filter plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon is intended for solid–liquid separation, clarification and related preparative or analytical work where the chemical resistance and thermal stability of borosilicate 3.3 are required. Porosity 3 corresponds to a medium pore structure commonly selected for general laboratory filtration. The untreated, round-centred geometry allows further processing or direct mounting in apparatus. Consistent diameter, thickness tolerance and defined porosity help laboratories specify interchangeable filter elements for research, quality control and process development without additional surface treatment.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 130 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 10 mm ± 2.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
