Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, porosity 3 is a circular sintered filter disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory filtration assemblies and apparatus construction. With a diameter of 210 mm and a thickness of 19,0 mm (tolerance ± 4,0 mm), the plate offers a robust porous medium for solid–liquid separation, gas sparging or support of filter beds in demanding laboratory environments. The untreated, round-centred surface is designed for integration into custom glassware, filtration housings and process setups that require chemical resistance and thermal stability. Porosity grade 3 provides a defined pore structure suited to many intermediate filtration duties in chemical synthesis, sample preparation and analytical workflows. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this VitraPOR® filter plate supports laboratories that build or maintain specialised filtration equipment. Borosilicate 3.3 construction ensures compatibility with a wide range of aqueous and organic media under typical laboratory temperature conditions, while the substantial plate thickness contributes mechanical strength during mounting, sealing and repeated use.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 210 mm, Por. 3 Thickness 19 mm ± 4.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
