Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate in borosilicate 3.3, diameter 240 mm, porosity 2, is a robust sintered disc for laboratory and process filtration assemblies. The plate has a nominal thickness of 19,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 4,0 mm, an untreated surface and a round, centred geometry for straightforward mounting in holders or custom glassware. Porosity grade 2 provides a defined pore structure suitable for medium filtrations, gas sparging support and solid–liquid separations where chemical resistance and thermal stability of borosilicate 3.3 are advantageous. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this VitraPOR® filter plate is intended for integration into filtration apparatus, reaction setups and specialised laboratory equipment. The untreated glass surface leaves finishing options open for the end user. With its 240 mm diameter and substantial wall thickness, the disc is designed for applications that demand mechanical stability alongside the inertness of borosilicate glass. Ideal where a standardised Por. 2 sintered glass filter plate of this size is specified.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 240 mm, Por. 2 Thickness 19 mm ± 4.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
