Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, 260 mm, porosity 1, is a sintered disc made from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory and preparative filtration assemblies. The plate has a thickness of 26,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 6,0 mm, an untreated surface, and a round, centred geometry for installation in matching housings or custom glassware. Porosity grade 1 provides a relatively open pore structure suitable for coarse filtration, support layers and gas-distribution duties where chemical resistance of borosilicate 3.3 is required. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this large-diameter frit offers mechanical stability in process-scale or specialised laboratory setups. The untreated sintered face remains in its as-manufactured condition, ready for direct mounting without additional surface finishing. Dimensional control on diameter and thickness helps ensure fit in apparatus specified around a 260 mm filter plate. Use this VitraPOR® component when a defined porosity, robust borosilicate construction and clearly stated thickness tolerance are needed for filtration or related fluid-handling applications.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 260 mm, Por. 1 Thickness 26 mm ± 6.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
