Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, 40 mm diameter with porosity 5, is a precision sintered disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for fine laboratory filtration. The plate features a thickness of 4,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 1,0 mm, an untreated surface and round centred form for secure fitment in filter apparatus. Borosilicate glass 3.3 offers excellent chemical durability and resistance to thermal shock, supporting use with a wide variety of aqueous and organic solvents. Available from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon in packs of 10 pieces, these discs are convenient for everyday laboratory filtration work. Porosity grade 5 provides a finer pore structure suited to applications requiring higher particle retention while still permitting practical flow rates. Common uses include vacuum filtration, fine precipitate collection, sample polishing and separations performed in Büchner funnels or custom glass frit assemblies. Tight dimensional control ensures consistent seating and reproducible filtration behaviour. The untreated sintered surface maintains the characteristic frit properties needed for reliable performance in research, analytical and quality-control laboratories.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 40 mm, Por. 5 Thickness 4.5 mm ± 1.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
