Description
VitraPOR® glass filter plate with 40 mm diameter and porosity F is a precision sintered disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Nominal thickness is 4,5 mm with a tolerance of ± 1,0 mm. The round, centred plate has an untreated surface and is intended for laboratory filtration applications requiring the F porosity grade. Borosilicate 3.3 provides the chemical durability and thermal resistance expected of high-quality laboratory glassware, supporting use with aqueous solutions and many common organic solvents. These filter plates are supplied in packs of 10 pieces and originate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon. They can be incorporated into filter crucibles, holders or custom glass assemblies where controlled pore size and mechanical integrity are essential. The untreated surface allows direct use or optional further processing depending on the specific protocol. Consistent diameter, thickness and porosity contribute to reproducible filtration performance in analytical and preparative workflows.

What is this article?
Filter Disc, centered, 40 mm, Por. F Thickness 4.5 mm ± 1.0 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
