Description
Round filter Munktell grade 391 blue ribbon with a diameter of 150 mm is a laboratory filter paper for quantitative analyses requiring retention of fine-grained precipitates. Nearly ash-free at 0,007 %, wet-strength and acid-washed, this dense grade is suited to cold-precipitated barium sulfate, metastannic acid and copper oxide. Filtration is very slow: the paper is fine-pored and dense, retaining very fine crystalline material. Filtration speed is 180 s/10 ml, with a Herzberg filtration time of 2500 s/100 ml, corresponding to 25 ml/min. Typical pore size is 2–3 µm and the basis weight is 84 g/m². Each box holds 100 circular filters. These Munktell grade 391 blue-ribbon filters from manufacturer Marienfeld are intended for quantitative laboratory workflows in which slow filtration and tight particle retention are essential for accurate gravimetric separation of finely divided precipitates under controlled ash conditions on a larger filter diameter.
This article is part of Filter paper, in Filtration.

Questions about Filter paper circles Munktell grade 391 blue spot, 150 mm Ø
What is this article?
Filter paper circles Munktell grade 391 blue spot, 150 mm Ø is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Marienfeld for laboratory use. It sits in Filter paper, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
Filter paper is a cellulose sheet of a stated retention and speed. Qualitative paper clarifies. Quantitative, ashless paper is for a precipitate that will be weighed or ashed, because the paper itself leaves almost no ash. The diameter has to match the funnel.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
