Description

Glass fibre microfilter grade GFFC (1,2 µm) is a binder-free circular filter made from 100 % borosilicate glass microfibres, engineered for rapid filtration and strong retention of fine particles. With a 90 mm diameter, grammage of 55 g/m², pore size of 1,2 µm and thickness of 270 µm, it is a standard choice for suspended solids (MES) analysis in drinking water and wastewater under European EN 872 and American Standard Methods 2540D. The binder-free glass matrix remains usable at high temperatures, which supports robust sample preparation and gravimetric workflows. Delivered in packs of 100 round filters from manufacturer Labbox, the grade is widely treated as equivalent to Whatman GF/C, Macherey-Nagel GF-3, Millipore AP40 and Schleicher & Schuell GF52. Typical applications include environmental water testing, laboratory clarification of aqueous suspensions and general fine-particle capture where reproducible retention, good flow and thermal stability are essential.

This article is part of Glass & quartz fibre filters, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Glass microfiber filter, GFFC grade (1,2 um), Ø90 mm, 100 pcs is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in Glass & quartz fibre filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

Glass-fibre and quartz-fibre filters are depth filters with a high dirt load, used for air sampling, for total suspended solids and in front of a membrane. They have no sharp pore-size cutoff the way a membrane does. Binderless grades matter when the filter will be weighed or heated.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
