Description
GroStar™ GS1 pH pocket meter is a robust handheld instrument developed specifically for hydroponic applications, suitable for both professional and hobbyist plant-growth monitoring. It measures pH from 0,0 to 14,00 with a resolution of 0,1 and accuracy of ±0,1, together with temperature from 0 to 50 °C at 0,1 °C resolution and ±1 °C accuracy, using automatic temperature compensation. Premium electrode technologies and materials deliver high accuracy and durability with minimal maintenance, while the replaceable electrode and user-friendly design enable fast automatic 1- to 3-point calibration. A large three-colour backlit display shows white during measurement, green during calibration and red for error messages. The IP67 waterproof and floatable housing is powered by four AAA batteries with automatic shut-off. Dimensions are 40×40×178 mm and weight is 133 g. The set from manufacturer APERA Instruments includes the meter, pH 4,00 and pH 7,00 calibration solutions (50 ml each), 10 ml 3M KCl storage solution and a carrying strap, backed by a two-year manufacturer warranty (one year on the electrode).

Questions about GroStar™ GS1 pH Pocket Tester
What is this article?
GroStar™ GS1 pH Pocket Tester is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A pH meter reads the electrode and displays pH, after calibration with at least two buffers. A meter that cannot be calibrated is a voltmeter. Resolution to 0.001 is not the same as accuracy. Portable and benchtop meters differ in the electrodes they accept and in the data they store.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
