Description

Module block 11.5/1,5 mL microcentrifuge is an anodised aluminium accessory for dry block heaters, purpose-built to hold microcentrifuge tubes in the 11.5/1,5 mL format. These solid blocks accommodate a wide variety of laboratory vessels and tubes, including micro-, centrifuge- and PCR-tubes, as well as PCR strips or plates, microplates and cuvettes. The blocks may also be employed for microscope slides or custom-drilled to suit specialised sample geometries. With a net weight of 1 kg and compact outer dimensions, the module integrates readily into standard thermostating workflows and supports uniform heat transfer. Offered by manufacturer Ohaus within the industry’s most extensive modular-block programme of more than 40 configurations, it provides a practical solution for laboratories that routinely process tubes of differing sizes or irregularly shaped samples. The durable anodised surface withstands repeated thermal cycling, making the block suitable for incubation, enzyme reactions and other temperature-controlled protocols in research, clinical and quality-control settings. Supplied as a single piece, it expands the versatility of existing dry-block systems without requiring additional instrumentation.

Questions about Module Block 11.5/1.5 mL Microcentrifuge

What is this article?

Module Block 11.5/1.5 mL Microcentrifuge is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Ohaus for laboratory use. It sits in Microcentrifuges & mini centrifuges, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

A microcentrifuge spins 0.2 mL to 2 mL tubes at high force. A mini centrifuge is the small quick-spin for bringing a droplet down from a lid. They are not interchangeable with a 50 mL rotor. The lid lock is part of the safety of the instrument.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
