Description

Nalgene™ floating polypropylene racks for microtubes provide a compact round format for thawing, cooling and incubating microtube samples at elevated or reduced temperatures. Each rack offers 8 positions with a metric inner diameter of 66 mm and accepts 1,0–2,0 ml tubes, covering standard 1,0, 1,2, 1,5 and 2,0 ml sizes, while fitting a 400 ml beaker for convenient water-bath use. The floating microtube rack design keeps tubes stable and accessible during temperature-controlled steps common in genetic engineering, microbiology and immunology laboratories. Made of polypropylene and available from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, the racks are not autoclavable and are intended for everyday thermal handling rather than autoclave cycles. The round eight-position array supports organised small-batch work when fewer tubes are processed at once. Supplied as a case of 16 (4 per pack), they suit laboratories that need dependable floating support for microcentrifuge tubes in compact beaker setups.

This article is part of Microcentrifuge & reaction tubes, in Microplates, PCR & reaction tubes.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene Floating Microtube Racks

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Polypropylene Floating Microtube Racks is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Microcentrifuge & reaction tubes, inside Microplates, PCR & reaction tubes, in Lab consumables.

A microcentrifuge tube, the familiar 1.5 mL or 2 mL flip-cap tube, holds a small reaction or a spin-down. The cap style, the centrifugal-force rating and whether the tube is low-binding are the specification. A PCR tube is thinner and is a different article.

A microplate is an array of wells so the same step can be done many times. A deep-well plate holds more volume. A PCR plate or a strip of tubes is thin-walled so the temperature of a cycler reaches the liquid quickly. A seal keeps the well from evaporating. The well number, the working volume and whether the plate is skirted for a robot are the choices. Diagnostic test systems are listed under ISO in vitro diagnostic systems. Methods are on PubMed.
