Description

Nalgene™ polypropylene vacuum flask is a filtration flask moulded in one piece from polypropylene (PP) for use under full vacuum. With a capacity of 1000 ml (1 l), it offers a practical alternative to glass vacuum flasks for laboratory suction filtration. An angled tubing connector helps reduce the risk of tipping when vacuum lines are attached. The vessel accepts stopper size No. 8 and is autoclavable, allowing sterilisation between uses where required. Each unit is supplied singly, one per pack and carton. This Nalgene™ vacuum flask from manufacturer Thermo Scientific is intended for filtration and vacuum work in research and quality-control laboratories. The one-piece polypropylene construction is designed for full-vacuum service, and the angled hose connection supports stable bench setups. It is well suited to replacing glass receiving flasks where shatter resistance and lower weight are preferred, while remaining compatible with standard stopper No. 8 closures in 1000 ml filtration assemblies used across routine laboratory workflows.

This article is part of Erlenmeyer flasks, in Beakers & flasks.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene Vacuum Flask

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Polypropylene Vacuum Flask is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Erlenmeyer flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

An Erlenmeyer, or conical, flask has a flat base and a narrowing wall so a liquid can be swirled. It is the ordinary culture and titration flask. A baffled wall is a different article, used when the swirl must turn the liquid over.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
