Description

PORAFIL CM membrane filters in black with gridded surface, pore size 0,45 µm and diameter 50 mm, are supplied individually sterile packed in packs of 100. These cellulose-mixed (CM) membrane discs are intended for microbiological and particulate filtration workflows in which colony counting or particle visualisation benefits from a dark gridded background. The 0,45 µm pore rating supports retention of many bacteria and fine particles during membrane filtration of aqueous samples. Each filter is packed sterile for single use, helping maintain aseptic technique at the filtration manifold. Offered by manufacturer Macherey-Nagel under the PORA/PORAFIL CM line, the 50 mm format fits standard filter holders used in water, beverage and environmental testing as well as general laboratory QC. The black grid aids enumeration under the microscope or colony counter. Select this sterile gridded CM membrane when a ready-to-use 0,45 µm, 50 mm disc is required for routine filtration and counting applications.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA CM, black,steri,G PW:0,45 µm d: 50

What is this article?

PORA CM, black, steri,G PW:0,45 µm d: 50 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
