Description

VitraPOR® quartz glass filter plate is a biplanar filter disc manufactured from amorphous quartz glass with a diameter of 20 mm, porosity grade 2 and a thickness of 4,0 mm ± 0,2 mm. Belonging to the Q series, it features surfaces ground on both sides for a plane-parallel biplanar finish suited to laboratory filtration assemblies. The plate is available from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon in a pack of 5 pieces. Porosity 2 defines the pore grade of this VitraPOR® disc within the 20 mm format. With its specified diameter, thickness tolerance of ± 0,2 mm and double-sided ground faces, the filter plate can be integrated into filter holders, frit constructions and laboratory glassware requiring a quartz porous medium. Amorphous quartz glass is used throughout the disc. This article addresses needs for a standardized biplanar quartz glass filter plate of porosity 2 at 20 mm diameter and 4,0 mm thickness. It forms part of the VitraPOR® Q series of filter plates offered for laboratory use where the stated geometry and porosity are required.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Quartz Glass Filter Disc, bi-plane, 20 mm, Por. 2 Thickness 4.0 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
