Description

VitraPOR® sintered glass pellets with diameter Ø 8,0 mm and porosity 2 are porous sintered glass microcarriers for adherently growing cell cultures. They consist of pure, binder-free borosilicate glass 3.3 and are characterised by an inert, biocompatible structure. The defined pores support cell proliferation by helping to prevent cell clumps and by encouraging even distribution of cells on the carrier surface. Offered in a 1 litre pack, these pellets from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon serve as carrier material (microcarrier) in research, biotechnology and the preparation of clinical studies. VitraPOR® meets the high requirements of professionals in industry and laboratory practice who need reliable microcarriers for cell culture and tissue culture media workflows. The combination of porosity grade 2, an 8,0 mm pellet diameter and binder-free borosilicate 3.3 glass provides a stable, chemically resistant substrate for adherent cultures wherever controlled porosity and biocompatible glass carriers are specified.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about VitraPOR® Porous Glass Beads, Ø 8.0 mm, Por. 2

What is this article?

VitraPOR® Porous Glass Beads, Ø 8.0 mm, Por. 2 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
