Description

ROTAVISC hi-vi I Complete is a rotational viscometer package intended for viscosity measurement of liquids across laboratory and quality-control applications. It covers a high viscosity range of 200 to 80 000 000 mPa·s and yields fast, accurate results for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian samples. Accuracy reaches ± 1 % of the measuring range, with reproducibility of ± 0,2 %. Continuous stepless speed control enables fine adjustment to the sample. The package comprises the standard spindle set (SP7–SP12), protective guard, temperature sensor and ROTASTAND stand. Operation is supported by a clear 4,3″ TFT display with intuitive menus, a digital spirit level for correct setup and a simple ramp function for recurring measurement sequences. Offered by manufacturer IKA as a complete ready-to-run set, the ROTAVISC hi-vi I Complete is well suited to high-viscosity materials in research, formulation and industrial quality assurance.

This article is part of Viscometers, in Density & viscosity measurement.

Questions about ROTAVISC hi-vi I Complete, Rotational viscometer package

What is this article?

ROTAVISC hi-vi I Complete, Rotational viscometer package is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Viscometers, inside Density & viscosity measurement, in Lab instruments.

A capillary viscometer times the flow of a liquid through a tube. A rotational viscometer twists a spindle in the liquid. Both need a stated temperature. Kinematic and dynamic viscosity are different numbers. The capillary size has to put the flow time in the range the method allows.

Density is mass divided by volume. A hydrometer floats at a depth that depends on the density of the liquid. A pycnometer is a vessel of known volume that is weighed full. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. A capillary viscometer times how long a volume takes to fall through a tube. Both measurements need a stated temperature, because liquids change density and viscosity as they warm. The units trace to the BIPM and to NIST.
